Mindfulness Meditation Group of Sarasota, Florida

Meditation in Sarasota Every Sunday and Thursday

Welcome to the Mindfulness Meditation Group of Sarasota.

We meet twice per week in Sarasota, Florida. On Sundays at 3:00 PM at the Unitarian Campus on Fruitville Road and Thursdays at 1:00 PM at the Unity Church on Proctor Road. Each two-hour session includes a 30-minute partially guided meditation, followed by a presentation on the week’s topic and a group discussion or interactive exercise. We encourage a regular daily sitting practice outside of group sessions. The group is open to everyone. No prior experience is necessary. Click here for weekly meditation meeting announcements. Our focus is on meditation, Buddhist philosophy, and practical tools that support well-being and clarity. We explore these topics from a secular perspective, drawing primarily from the Buddha’s early teachings in the Pāli Canon. We also draw from Western philosophy, biology, and psychology.

Our approach is influenced by contemporary teachers such as Stephen Batchelor, John Peacock, Robert Wright, and Bernat Font, who emphasize relevance, inquiry, and non-dogmatic understanding.
