Mindfulness Meditation Group of Sarasota, Florida

Welcome to the Mindfulness Meditation Group.

We meet every Sunday at 3:00 PM at the Unitarian Campus on Fruitville Road in Sarasota, FL. Each two-hour session includes a 30-minute guided meditation, followed by a presentation on the week’s topic and a group discussion or interactive exercise. A regular daily meditation practice is highly recommended.

Our focus is on meditation, Buddhist philosophy, and practical tools that support personal growth and well-being. We explore these topics from a secular perspective, drawing primarily from the Buddha’s early teachings in the Pāli Canon. We also draw from Western philosophy, biology, and psychology.

Our approach is influenced by contemporary teachers such as Stephen Batchelor, John Peacock, Robert Wright, and Bernat Font, who emphasize relevance, inquiry, and non-dogmatic understanding.
